Jesus Loves Us Even Though… We are Impractical, Impulsive, Impatient…Imperfect

Prologue

I’m a good person.

I go to church on Sundays, donate to the Salvation Army, eat my broccoli and pay my taxes. I love my family. I get along with my neighbors and I’m kind to strangers. I obey traffic laws (most of them) and vote in every election. And, it must be said I have never kicked a puppy, taken candy from a little one or clubbed a baby seal!

However…

Everyone makes mistakes.

I know I’ve made my fair share. I’ll admit it. I’ve broken a commandment (or two), taken the wrong path more than once and I’ve made bad choices. I’ve done stupid things and led others astray. I’ve told myself little white lies are okay and harsh words are only words. I’ve hurt the ones I love and I’ve yelled at my dog. So, yes…I have made mistakes. Who hasn’t? I’m only human and…

Nobody’s perfect.

There has only ever been one perfect human being and I am certainly not Him. The good news is, I know Him—personally—and He loves me! Me! Jesus loves me even though I’m impractical, impulsive, impatient and imperfect. He loves me even though I’m often clueless and stubborn and sometimes…really awful.

He loves me, the real me. The truth is…
There is redemption in His love.

There is no selfish act, no wrong choice, no stupid mistake, nor any person on earth—even our own stubborn, reckless, incorrigible selves—who can come between us and the love of Christ! He will always love us…even though.

When I started writing with purpose, in 2006, my intention was to create a Faith journal for my newly born granddaughter. I wanted to share with her some of the many heart-stopping, life-changing, eternally significant messages I have received from the Lord through His Word over the years. So, in a small spiral notebook I recorded each important scripture and a note or two about its meaning to me. I wanted Lizzie, my granddaughter, to know that even though none of us is perfect, we can be made perfect in Him.

I shared this idea with a friend, a new Christian, and allowed her to read some of the entries in my diary. She began asking questions:

• “I don’t get it. Why this scripture?”
• “I don’t know anything about 2 Chronicles. What’s it about?”
• “This scripture is about ‘loving your neighbor’ but your notes are about anger. Why?”

So, I shared with her why those particular scriptures were important to me; I told her the stories that set each scripture into context. She asked, “Why didn’t you do that to begin with?”

And, with that, this book was born.

JESUS LOVES US EVEN THOUGH…WE ARE: IMPRACTICAL, IMPULSIVE, IMPATIENT…IMPERFECT

How well do you know the Book of Habakkuk? Philemon? Titus? Joel, Amos or Jude? Most traditional devotional study guides leave these lesser known Books of the Bible untouched and unknown. However, JESUS LOVES US EVEN THOUGH… focuses on EVERY Book of the Bible.

Inside you’ll find 66 SHORT but informative, imaginative and illuminating devotional studies—one for every book of the Bible—PLUS topical scriptures, thought provoking questions (to answer alone or with friends) and journaling helps to assist in a deeper dive into each contemporary issue and every book of God’s Word. In addition, each Bible book is succinctly described and explained in one short paragraph, at the beginning of each chapter.

At the end of each chapter is a prayer written just for you. As you read let the Spirit move you to extend the prayer for your friends.

The Best part of JESUS LOVES US EVEN THOUGH is that it can be utilized in so many different ways!

FOLLOW ALONG AT YOUR OWN PACE, IN YOUR OWN STYLE!

Although 2000 years have passed since the Bible was written, Christians today are still facing many of the same issues and concerns as the ancient did. Marriage, parenting, relationships, money worries, societal controversies…are all the same today. Whether you’re delving into your Bible alone or with friends, you’ll find personal relevance to YOUR life inside each and every story. The questions and journaling sections are designed to help YOU define your own thoughts and feelings on every subject.

Furthermore, through the different book descriptions, at the beginning of each chapter—from Genesis to Revelation—you’ll receive a basic understanding of the theme of each Bible book and its basic message, giving you a foundation to build upon for all future study.
