Sunset Winks

 

When the sun sets in the sky we enter the twilight stage that lasts until dusk. The angle of the sun is passing its rays through dust and water particles in the atmosphere providing us with a magnificent color show. All over the world this phenomenon is observed and cherished by many.

The scientific explanation of this occurrence does not speak to the divinity of the experience. No matter what walk of life you are from, everyone can connect in some way spiritually with the setting of the sun. The beauty of a sunset must have been seen in order to fully appreciate its majesty.

There is so much mysterious beauty in the world. Some of these natural beauties can be explained, while others cannot. With our busy everyday lives we lose sight of this beauty. Every day becomes a routine that keeps our minds focused on the tasks of everyday living. As a mother I can understand getting swallowed up by your own existence. I find myself overwhelmed and frustrated at times. These feelings are normal but a release of the emotions is necessary.

It is important to our inner peace that we look up and appreciate the wonders the world has to offer. Each and every day is a gift that we all must cherish and each day we have an amazing opportunity to cherish that gift. Most of us only take this time when on vacation or away from our everyday obligations. This beauty occurs every day and if we keep our heads down, every day we miss it. I wish to encourage those who are seeking some peace in their lives to make appreciating every sunset part of their daily routine. Take that time to clear your mind and infuse some wonder into your life.

I believe in God, angels and miracles. Throughout my life I have witnessed these miracles. I consider myself lucky but at the same time I consider myself aware. How are we able to accept miracles and magic if we don’t believe and aren’t open to it. Everyday I witness a small miracle when the sun goes down. The extravagant display of light and color announces the descend into another day. It tells us with its magical beauty that we can start anew tomorrow, that the day is done and we can rest. This type of beauty can be captured on film but can never be remade my human hands. It is truly a miracle, a moment of elegant divination that reminds me that there truly is a God and that he is wonderful. These moments of divine intervention pass too soon. As long as we are receptive, we can all experience the magic of the world around us.

The sun sets to mark the ending of each day with an angelic wink. This elegant display gives us a chance to reflect on our day as we enjoy its graceful spectacle. Conversations can be released, memories can be revisited and any negative aspects of our day can be washed away. When I look at the sunset I am filled with love, joy and peace. I feel immense love towards God, the universe and the people around me. I like to take the time to absorb that love to the fullest.

The joy I feel when watching a sunset is the joy of life itself. We are all so lucky to be given the opportunity we have on this earth and I feel the need to reflect on that joy. I enjoy the warmth that it makes me feel. To be in awe of such beauty puts my heart in such a peaceful place. I am always amazed by the uniqueness of every presentation. I have never witnessed the same sunset twice.

Each evening offers different shapes, colors and textures that are very spiritually stimulating. Each sunset brings out different emotions at different times. Shades of pink, purple, orange, blue and all the colors in between seem to swing and sway as if in a slow dance with each other. This visual melody is not only captivating but mesmerizing. The way the colors seem to decorate the clouds in an arbitrary, yet intended grace. Sometimes the beauty seems so close I feel I can reach out and touch it.

Not every sunset dances with the clouds. On a clear evening the beauty is still immense. The whole sky becomes a heavenly canvas for the angels to paint. The bright vivid colors seem to stain the sky and blend together with stunning glory. The sky looks so large which makes me feel small in a great way; as if I have no worries at all. I love to get lost in the magnificence of this daily demonstration.

As busy human beings with stressful lives we must practice mindfulness. Meditation and prayer are essential to our survival. What better way to take a break from the tension and urgency of the daily program? Let yourself be engulfed in the color-soaked sky and your stress will melt away. This roughly 30 minute long symphony of color is the perfect time for meditation or prayer.

Taking an evening walk or jog can be a great way to exercise while enjoying a peaceful sunset; this can greatly reduce stress. For those of you who work evenings, take that time to go outside and appreciate the beauty. Time seems to slow a bit while watching a sunset, so it’s a great way to escape for a moment. The sunset offers us a nonjudgmental awareness of its loveliness.

There is no negative consequence to this type of admiration. The peacefulness makes me feel so grateful for my life. I use this opportunity to project my gratitude into the universe. Only positivism can come from this type of beauty.

Only we can decide to take a break from our lives to recognize it. Today is the day I want you to sit and enjoy this small miracle and allow the magic to elevate the stress and anxiety in your life. All you have to do is open your eyes and look up.

Let the sunset inspire you artistically. Throughout the generations the sunset has been a muse for many poets, writers, romantics and photographers such as me. Every emotion felt during a sunset can come out in different ways. For a poet or writer, the feelings given to us by the sunset can be turned into words that flow just as smoothly as the colors flow in the sky. The vision is so powerful that a writer can put the beauty into words that can captivate us all.

An artist can try to recreate the allure on a canvas so that others may be invoked with the same emotion the artist was feeling while painting. A painter can move his brush and mimic the movement of the light and colors in the sky. Musicians could benefit in the same way. They can take the gorgeous colors across the sky and creating a melody that mirrors the beauty seen and felt. The sunset is a glory that can be seen by the eye. A musician can take the inspiration from a sunset so we can hear the emotion and feel it in our soul. I believe we have some kind of artistic ability. Anyone can use the sun for artistic inspiration; all you have to do is try.

Romantics all around the world would say that falling in love is easy during a sunset. The emotion evoked allows for a romantic atmosphere from which only loving and kindness can be born. At a days end when the sun dips toward the horizon and bathes everything, including your companions adoring face in the dim glow of the sun. You can see the love and admiration in your lover’s eyes.

The colors and the beauty in the sky easily reflect on the faces of those who are sharing the moment with you. On vacations you might see couples hand in hand walking along the setting sun. As they bask in the moment they take the beauty in and project in onto each other. You may also see couples having dinner, talking, or just enjoying each others company in the glow of an evening twilight.

Sunsets are a so moving that some choose this time of day to propose their love to a potential wife or husband. This type romanticism does not apply to only lovers. You can also see families or couples generally spending quality time together while the sun sinks under the earth. It is a magical moment enjoyed by family and friends.

The joy is elevated by the golden sunset giving thanks for another day.
