This week we are chatting to Anne Bardsley author of How I Earned My Wrinkles

how I earned my wrinklesTell us something unexpected about yourself!

When my kids were little I thought about tying my own tubes with a rope from my pork roast dinner.

What kind of books do you write?

Family humor

Real life

Sentimental

What inspired you to write?

It comes naturally. When the kids were small, teachers would ask me to send more funny notes. Let's give them credit.

What makes your writing stand out from the crowd?

My writing isn't fluffed up life. I write real stories with honest feelings and then I sprinkle in some humor. For instance, when my aunt mentioned she needed surgery on her uterus, my dad asked If Uterus was near Sagitarious. Sex Ed 101 right there!

What is the hardest part of writing – for you?

Squeezing in quiet time to write.

Where do you like to write – what is your routine?

I have a sunroom office. I prefer an early start, before sun rises (I look better in the dark). A hot mug of coffee to clear the cobwebs in my mind and I can write for hours. It feels like minutes have passed.

What do you do when you are not writing – do you have a day job?

I am a receptionist for a condo vacation rental company. I meet people from all over the world. That is the best part of the job.

Do you work with an outline or just write?

I usually just write. Putting an outline together would be too organized for me. I am allergic to organization and ironing boards.

What advice would you have for other writers?

Write Write Write! Do it for yourself. It's like you birthed a baby when you get that manuscript in final print. It's natural to get discouraged, but don't let it stop you. Join a writers' group. Creative juices feed off each other.

How important is marketing and social media for you?

Marketing is not my forte. The computer and I battle daily. I really need to carry a geek in my pocket. This is one area I need help.

What's your next step?

Book #2 is Angel Bumps it's about signs from the other side. I'm hoping it will make people aware that we never really lose ones we love. Book#3. Nipples On My Knees. There I've said it! My body is drooping. Humorous tales of aging from a cool chick in her early 60's.

Anne is organically funny and kind. She doesn’t need to try; she just is.
