Ever want time away from the screen, but still want to feel productive? Podcasts are the best way of doing both, and in that vein, here is a list of podcasts and TED talks about writing, reading and creativity, just to give you that fun break.

In the 1930s, broadcast radio introduced an entirely new form of storytelling; today, micro-blogging platforms like Twitter are changing the scene again. Andrew Fitzgerald takes a look at the (aptly) short but fascinating history of new forms of creative experimentation in fiction and storytelling.

NPR podcast discusses language examined through the lens of history, culture, and family. This acclaimed episode from 2013 takes a look at the query letters from the slushpile. Amusing and insightful, this is a great episode to begin with.

Having won the literary lottery, Dean Crawford is now a huge proponent of indie publishing. In this fun episode, he talks to The Creative Penn team about how and why this change came about, and what other authors can do to have the same success.
