Your Sanity Guide to Taming The Melt Down Madness

In “Taming the meltdown madness” our goal is to give a tool box for parents and caregivers who have children who tend to lose control and melt down into tantrums, which seem to be inconsolable. When we experience our child/ren battling within themselves like this, we can feel helpless and out of control.

This book does not focus on how to make our children be good, it focuses on how to understand and connect with our children. We need to realize our strengths and weaknesses and how these strengths and weaknesses impact on the dance called parenting.

Traveling 101

Traveling 101 is a collection of humorous and true renditions of many of the trips the Hladys have been on over a twenty-year span. These stories encompass travel across the United States, Mexico, and Germany, and they include camping, skiing, and over-the-road trips, taking place in hotels, timeshares, and bed and breakfasts.

But if Pam could give one piece of advice to fellow travelers, it would be this: Maintain a sense of humor on trips, give up your expectations, and be flexible.

Marijuana Smuggler

Outlaws lead a solitary life. They give up much for what little they gain.

In the 1970s, when I was young and idealistic, I wanted to strike a minor blow to undermine my government’s power and ended up dedicating my life to making marijuana available. I became a drug smuggler.

I loved the challenging life I chose. I became a valued and trusted smuggler, but at the same time alienated my wife and daughter and became something of an outcast from my mother and other close relatives. You can’t have it all.

This is the story of my adventures as an outlaw. Hold onto your hat, it's a wild ride.

Meditation by Nature

Meditation by Nature is a collaborative work of words and photography designed to introduce meditation to some, and solidify its use for others. The subtitle reaches for the individual reader by suggesting a way to find solid ground when everything feels as though it's falling apart.

Each chapter is an individual meditation around a specific theme, designed to be a stand alone piece. The book itself is meant to be used again and again as subjects come up or return. This is the second publication for Dr. Bonnie Howell, author of Stepping Stones to Success, a guide to spiritual leadership using the seven leadership truths. Photography is all original work for this project by talented artist Charlotte Brahm.

Cracked Open

In this provocative, raw and deeply honest book, Leslie Malin opens the door to allow bravery and transformation to enter for all of us. Who has not suffered from self-doubt, fear of failure, and loss? The essential question is “Can I brave life's storms or will I curl up in the desire to be safe rather than venture forth to meet my future?”

Cracked Open is a meditation. This volume combines quotations from many traditions, eras, and genres, coupled with the author's reflections on their meaning. Leslie Malin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 35 years in the field. Her reflections are grounded in her personal history, as well as enriched by standing witness for her clients as they triumphed over daunting challenges.

Making Sense of Past Time

Through the prism of memory, middle-aged Harry sets out to recapture his youthful years. As a young man, Harry is not happy about living in his provincial hometown in “the Caribbean”. He is easily bored, restless, and afraid that his life would amount to nothing if he remains there.

And so Harry ventures out to a distant land to make something of himself. He also wishes to become the “captain of his ship,” by distancing himself from an authoritative father. He chooses a metropolitan city – London – where he expects “greener pastures” while treasuring the dream of one day reaching the shores of America. But there are surprises in store for him, as well as a challenge to his character.

Lethal Copycats

The Columbine high school massacre was the most lethal school shooting in modern US history when it took place on April 20, 1999. Regrettably, the frequency and lethality of mass shootings appear to have increased post-Columbine.

One of the reasons may be that some youths were inspired by these events. Here, I use a fictional scenario to explore possible motives spurring the macabre actions of two female mass shooters.

The Dennis Bisskit Adventures

Be amazed as Dennis attempts to win back the world mile record for queen and country!
