Interview with Krystal Kelly, an author of Equestrian Adventuresses Series Book 1

This week, we’re talking with Krystal Kelly about her book, Equestrian Adventuresses Series Book 1

sadleTell us something unexpected about yourself!

I drove a pink crappy-car from England to Mongolia and back again, solo. I met my husband along the way in Azerbaijan. He was also participating in the same car rally I was and we were both trying to catch a ferry boat across the Caspian into Turkmenistan when we met. The rest is history.

Why do you write?

Equestrian travel and adventure novels. This book series features true stories of horseback adventures around the globe in unique countries and is written by a variety of women from countless nationalities and riding disciplines.

Where did you get the inspiration for your current book?

I am the Founder of Equestrian Adventuresses. Each week we publish 3 articles on our website and we also feature an Amazon Prime tv series as well as a podcast show. During all of these recordings and interviews with women, I wanted to put some of their inspiring and incredible stories together in more detail than could be found on our website or podcast show. I wanted it to be personal and for people to live through their experiences with them. And there's no better way of doing this than through the imagination and storytelling found in books!

What do you enjoy the most about your genre?

I love horses and travel. Put the two together and I'm in paradise!

How would you describe your writing process?

These are true stories of my personal adventures as well as other women's adventures who have been selected to have their stories included in the series. I believe everyone has a story inside them so sharing these stories has been an amazing process.

What do you think authors have to gain from participating in social media?

I'm a professional social media influencer. Equestrian Adventuresses has a youtube channel, Instagram, Facebook group… you name it! Social Media is the best way to interact with people around the world on a personal level and without it I think many amazing stories would be lost.

What advice would you have for other writers?

Just do it! The hardest part is starting, so once you've started you need to keep your eye on the prize and attack your dream with all you've got. No one will do it for you if you don't believe in yourself. You have to just take the leap.

How do you select your books’ titles and covers?

We love asking our Facebook group members and fans for their book title ideas. Our covers are also designed by professional women who aren't afraid to think outside the box! We select the photos carefully and try to bring a unique flavor to each of our books which showcase the beauty of horses and magic and freedom of adventuring to incredible places on horseback.

What's your next step?

Book 4 is set to publish so book 5 is next!

What book do you wish you had written?

I have been writing books for fun since I was 15 years old. My only wish was to have tried to publish my books earlier!

How do you react to seeing a new review for your book?

I get excited and nervous at the same time! Of course, I want everyone to absolutely love every chapter in the book series.
