Daddy’s Legacy

Martina woke up in a sweat, even though her tiny little room was cold. It was always freezing in the dank, whitish room. For a moment she had forgotten where she was, or how she had gotten there.

As the realization slowly seeped back into her foggy memory, she laid back down to stare at the ceiling … there wasn’t much else to do. There was a small window over her bed, but it was too high for her to look through.

There was a bed, a night stand (which, she learned, had been bolted to the floor), a mirror, toilet and sink, and not much more than that. There were voices in the hallway, and she wondered whose they were.

Probably that beady eyed little doctor who kept coming to see her, trying to make her remember everything that happened during her pathetic childhood. She truly hated that guy, and had wished the plague upon him many times; so far no luck.

Why should she remember anything? It didn’t make any difference at this point, and she couldn’t see any good that could possibly come from dredging the past up over and over again.

Let dead dogs lie she always said. Some days she just wanted to scream at the top of her lungs that this was all a horrible mistake, and beg for someone to please let her out of there. Other days, saner days, Martina knew she was exactly where she deserved to be.

Daddy’s Legacy Description:

What happens when an innocent child has her hopes and dreams slashed and destroyed? Where does a little girl hide when all of her hiding spots are out in the open? Martina was a terrified little girl, scared of those who were supposed to love and protect her.

Terrorized, frightened, not a single person to love and help her… How would she escape her nightmare? Could she? Was there any one in the world who would save her from the demons in her life … the demons who were slowly taking hold of her very soul?

This book was an incredible read, you really felt all the emotions that went through Martina. I would highly recommend this to anybody who’s suffered through their own form of abuse, anyone wanting to learn more about this taboo subject and anyone who is prepared for a real life experience.
This book could help everyone from those studying psychosocial fields, as well as those wanting to relate to another survivor. You’re not alone, and your voices need to be heard.
