Dangers of Deception

“Deception” is a nine-letter word for cheating, lying, and dishonesty. The term also is related to temptation.

We had known each other for years. We were co-workers in a way but mainly just acquaintances. I wasn’t cheating, and I never expected her to be deceptive. We just found each other in a time of mutual need. We didn’t think we were going to be together forever. We didn’t think we would fall in love so quickly. We both just needed somebody to talk to, but then weird things started to happen. I had to protect my daughter, and she needed to protect her kids. We both did what we needed to do. We never thought things would end up the way they did.

Do you know what it’s like to be deceived? Manipulated? Heartbroken? Do you know what it’s like to feel eyes on the back of your head, not knowing whether you’re being paranoid or whether someone is really watching you? Do you know what it’s like to have your whole life ripped out from under you? Have you ever felt as though the walls are caving in around you and there’s nothing you can do about it? I do. I know what all of this feels like in more ways than one. I wish I could say that I didn’t! Can you imagine being someone’s target and not having a clue why they chose you? I do.

Do you lock your doors at night? Do you have an alarm system? I do now. But no matter how safe and cautious you try to be, you can’t help but wonder “Am I really safe?” I thought I was, but I wasn’t. My name is Jackson Collins, and this is my story.

Before I get too far ahead of myself, let me give you some background. I come from an Italian family with a little bit of Greek lineage. I look it too—brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a light tan.

Dangers of Deception Description:

Jackson Collins is a hard working father, working at a demolition company, who will do anything for his daughter Alexandria. When Alexandria’s mother, Ashley, kicks him out and threatens to take her away from him, he will do anything to get her back. A task that comes a little too easy at first. Ashley has plans of her own on how to keep her daughter when she reunites with an old high school love interest, Robbie.

Jackson unexpectedly gets emotionally involved with an older woman, Marisa, and falls head over heels. There is a problem though, Marisa is married with an abusive husband and children of her own. She comes to Jackson after a beating from her husband, but when Detective Carson enters the picture, Marisa fears the consequences of pressing charges. Danger soon follows Jackson when Marisa’s family finds out about their relationship going to extreme lengths to keep them apart.

Ashley’s plans to get Alexandria back take an unexpected turn when she finds out that Robbie’s family isn’t exactly how they seem. Her involvement with the family’s activities put her on the run and can only end in tragedy forcing her to make a sacrifice.

Having to take on an extra job to help support his daughter, Jackson relies on babysitting help from a long time trusted friend and co-worker, Amy. She is there to help Jackson after his near death experience and soon becomes a target of revenge herself.
