Today we are chatting with Bella St John the author of Quantum Lace

51iXv51CqJL Tell us something unexpected about yourself!

I live out of 8 suitcases that travel around the world with me!

What novels affected you the most growing up?

Diary of Anne Frank; The Hobbit; Voss; Pride and Prejudice

Where did the idea for your current book come from?

I have always loved quantum physics, forgotten history, the notion of time travel and the Victorian era – so this book is a culmination of some of my greatest passions.

Do you think there's any way you could ever run out of ideas for books?

I would run out of days to breathe before I would run out of ideas about which to write! 🙂

What is your routine for writing and has this method changed over the span of your career?

I have never been one for ‘routine'- whether in my writing or anything else. I tend to write in bursts – sometimes for a few hours, sometimes a few days – but then may not write again for days. My mind is always going in relation to the subject, but I may not be actively writing. That has been the case since I was young.

How important is marketing and social media for you?

It is very important, but not in the traditional sense. My intention is to connect with people through marketing and social media, more than to ‘sell' to them. My desire is for my work to inspire them to be creative, to do more, be more, think more, explore more and question more…

What advice would you have for other writers?

Be passionate about your subject and know that if you have a book inside you, it needs to be written. There are countless anecdotes about the number of books in a graveyard that were never written…

What are you reading now?

Multiple books as research for writing my next book (it is historical sci-fi, so my research is not only fun, it is crucial to the integrity of the work); Mysteries and Secrets of Time; Tools of Titans; Style – The Modern Lady's Guide to Elegance and Charm; The Power of Glamour; several books by Neville Goddard; and Past Imperfect.

What’s your next step?

I have set myself a deadline of April 30th to have finished the next book – so my next step is to continue researching and writing…
