Why do you write?
People today only think about our temples, our philosophers and our political systems. I wanted to tell them what it was really like to live there.
Where did you get the inspiration for your current book?
The world knew so little about my life. It deserved better.
What do you enjoy the most about your genre?
Writing about myself and the people I loved or mocked.
How would you describe your writing process?
The Old Comedy is very demanding. It has six distinct stages, each with its own metre, and one with multiple complex metres. It was good to be able to relax into everyday prose.
What do you think authors have to gain from participating in social media?
It seems like better distribution than my plays ever had.
What advice would you have for other writers?
Attack everyone – as long as it’s funny.
How do you select your books’ titles and covers?
I use whatever materials are available.
What’s your next step?
I am now writing blogs on what is wrong with the world in the 21st century. Sign up on my website.
What book do you wish you had written?
Homer’s Odyssey. It’s really very funny.
How do you react to seeing a new review for your book?
The only reviews I have ever had for my plays were physical violence or threats of legal action.
