Interview with R. Joshua Collins , author of Preaching and Persecution in Sin City

Today, we’re talking with R. Joshua Collins about his book, Preaching and Persecution in Sin City

Joshua CollinsTell us something unexpected about yourself!

I was born in Zaragoza Spain.

Why do you write?

I write to encourage the faith of others and to be a voice for the homeless and those in need.

Preaching and Persecution in Sin CityWhere did you get the inspiration for your current book?

Many encouraged me to write this book after I told them about all of my experiences in Las Vegas while preaching and standing up for the homeless there. I was arrested many times and fought many cases and was eventually victorious in various courtroom battles.

What do you enjoy the most about your genre?

I love writing about spiritual truths that will encourage the faith of others and about my life experiences that can help others in their struggles as well. I also love being a voice for the homeless and those in need that are often mistreated in our world.

How would you describe your writing process?

It’s extremely enjoyable for me! I just wish I had more time to do it but right now I’m focused more on getting this first book more exposure.

What do you think authors have to gain from participating in social media?

It’s a great way to spread the word about your work and any type of cause you are involved in that will help others. It’s also a wonderful way to build new relationships with people of like minds.

What advice would you have for other writers?

Write what will inspire and encourage others, and especially encourage others to pursue a relationship with JESUS!

How do you select your books’ titles and covers?

I wanted my book cover to express what I went through and what I was involved in before and after my activism work for the homeless and my book title was more focused on what I was involved in and going through in the city of Las Vegas during my ministry there.

What’s your next step?

My next step is to continue to get on more podcasts and bring more visibility to the book and mission through speaking at Christian writers conferences and various Church groups and Bible studies. It’s been a great blessing to be a part of all this!

What book do you wish you had written?

I want to write many more books after this first one, but this first book I feel could be the most important of all!

How do you react to seeing a new review for your book?

I am so thrilled and hope many more reviews come soon!
